Fisheries production saw a slight growth

Aquaculture in July was estimated at 361,000 tons, down 1.1 per cent compared to the same month last year. However, in the first 7 months of the year, the average aquaculture production and fishing yield also increased over the same period in 2014.

The raining season is coming but the weather in July was favorable for Southern catching season. According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the fishing production in July was estimated at 235,000 tons, up 1.7 per cent over last year.

In 7 months of 2015, fishing output fetched 1.73 million tons, increased by 4 per cent compared to the same period last year, of which offshore fishing got 1.63 million tons, up 4.4 per cent.

Tuna fishing, purchasing, processing and distributing according to chain in 3 provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa has been implemented, but it hasnt got much efficient. This is due to the lack of information of fishing grounds and markets, out of date fishing and storage technology. Additionally, slow building of logistics system reduced fishing product value.

Fishing yield of big eye and yellow-fin tuna in 3 key provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa was estimated at 12,889 tons. In particular, those of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa were likely to reach 3,800 tons, 6089 tons and 3,000 tons, up 8.3%, 5% and 1.2% over the same period last year, respectively.

Aquaculture production in July was estimated at 361,000 tons, decreased by 1.1% from the same period last year; however, total aquaculture output in 7 months reached 1,937 million tons, increased by 2.5 per cent y-o-y.
